Photo Boards® make photo shoots easy.
No fancy set up required, they simply replace your floor, table or wall with a stylish alternative.
Photo Boards® are exact 1:1 replicas of beautiful original designs, created or collected by our founder LJ.
From painted effects to pieces of marble, wood and metal, each unique original piece is replicated to perfection, before shadow depth is added to enhance the true-to-life appearance when used in your photos.
The result is a true to scale background which looks just like the real thing!
Photo Boards® are crafted from lightweight and durable 3mm PVC board.
The designs are printed at super high resolution so that you can confidently use them in direct contact with your subjects, without needing to blur them in the background.
They are available in 40x40 cm and 60x60 cm sizes with a new pro size 90x90cm launching Summer 2018 (date tbc)
Flatlays are easy, place the Photo Board on the floor and you are ready to shoot!
For faking a wall, wine bottles, cardboard boxes and vases are popular choices for propping up a board if you don't have a wall.
Thanks to their lightweight design it is just like using a piece of cardboard for a backdrop, meaning you can take your Photo Boards to the best light instead of having to work in the dark.
Caring for your Photo Boards®
Photo Boards are robust and should last you many years of photo shoots.
Here are some tips for ensuring they look great in every shot.
Store your boards flat or perfectly vertical, so that they don't bend.
Do not leave in direct sunlight for prolonged periods or the colours may fade.
The design is printed, so take care not to scratch the printed surface.
Do not store heavy items on the board for long periods of time, they could leaved indentations. Sitting heavy items on the board while you photograph them is fine.
Wipe boards clean of food and fluids with a soft damp cloth, do not scrub or use chemicals to clean the board. Do not submerge in water. Avoid foods that may stain.
Avoid direct contact with heat, hot pans will melt the plastic! Use a trivet if photographing hot dishes. As a rule of thumb, if the pan or plate is too hot to the touch, then it is too hot for the Photo Board.

Why are Photo Boards small?
Photo Boards are designed for tabletop product and food photography.
They are the worlds leading true-to-scale photo backdrops thanks to our unique replication process making them look so real you will do a double take!
Our largest size is currently 60x60cm but look out for new designs in 90x90cm coming this Summer!
Why are some designs only available in one size?
Photo Boards® are replicas of real wood, marble and painted photography backdrops from LJ's personal collection. This means that they are limited to the original backdrop size. For example BALI was a small piece of painted green wood measuring 40x40cm. If this design was enlarged it wouldn't look like real wood in your photos.
Many of the original backdrops are larger, so we can create multiple sizes from it by just replicating a smaller area of the original piece.
Why do similar designs have different names?
When an original design is large enough to create multiple sized Photo Boards, the different sizes often look very different.
Our LOFT and URBAN red and white brick backdrops are a good example of this. LOFT contains mostly white bricks, while URBAN includes more red bricks, but both are created from the same original piece.
Customers like to know how their backdrop will look so we take out the guess work and give each size a unique name to celebrate the unique features of each design.
Do you offer bespoke designs?
We don't offer bespoke printed designs because each Photo Board is mass manufactured to keep costs low. You can however request a large bespoke hand-painted original by LJ, prices start at £400. Contact us via the contact page to discuss your style requirements.
Do you offer double sided Photo Boards?
Not at the moment but we are working on it, watch this space!
Can I use Photo Boards with a macro lens?
If you magnify beyond what the eye can see you will start to see the dots in the print, this photo of blueberries was captured on our BARN Photo Board and is captured with a 100mm Macro lens. Where the board is in focus you can start to see the dots in the print appearing.
What are the rules regarding copyright?
The Photo Boards® design, concept, trademark and imagery are copyright protected but you don't need to worry about using Photo Boards as backgrounds in your photos because that is their intended use.
You can freely use Photo Boards in your own photography without needing to credit anyone, even if you sell your photos for commercial gain or they are published by a third party. The photos are yours, even if you used our backgrounds in the making of them.
You cannot directly reproduce the designs, copy the artwork, concept, trademark (protection includes phonetically similar names) or sell/gift a direct copy of the background.
If you are still unsure just drop us a line! :)

Why is shipping so expensive?
Photo Boards are large flat objects so we have to pay a premium to send large boxes. We regularly review our delivery charges so that you do not pay more than the cost of packing and sending your order.
